Aylesbury Library launches a new disc repair service
05/05/2010
Aylesbury Library are the second library in as many weeks to offer a disc repair service to the public in partnership with Total Disc Repair.
The public can take their scratched discs to Aylesbury library who can repair them for a couple of pounds. Using a disc repair machine any type of disc format, from CDs to DVDs and games to Blu-ray discs can be repaired.
The library can also use the machine to repair their lending discs avoiding the huge replacement fees for scratched discs.
In the current climate libraries are charged with becoming more and more self-supporting and Aylesbury are constantly reviewing ways to ensure the future survival of their invaluable service to the community.
“Finding new and sustainable income streams isn’t an easy task. Disc repair has presented us with a fantastic opportunity, not only can we generate income from repairing the publics’ discs but we can also save money by repairing our own stock rather than having to pay huge replacement costs” said Sally Walters, Head of Income Generation, Aylesbury Library Manager.
“Aylesbury Library has been quick to recognize the value that disc repair can bring” said Pippa Westerman, Sales Manager at TDR. “There are huge cost savings associated with being able to repair their own discs. If they do not need to pay for replacements they have more money to invest in other titles meaning more choice for the community. Also by repairing their own stock of lending discs they can be sure they always rent out top quality games, films and music.”
‘We are keen to promote the service and encourage the public to bring along their discs for repair. There is a coupon in the paper for a free repair enabling the community to trial the service so please come and give it a go!” added Sally.
